Here in the last days of Winter we are making another offer on one of our fastest selling white wines in recent history.

‘07 Grande Cassagne “Cassanus” Blanc reg $13.99 – on sale $5.99

CassanusThis offer opens today, Thursday March 4, and will close at the end of business Wednesday, March 10.  On Thursday March 11 we will place the order with importer and confirm all orders.  The wine will arrive approximately 2-3 weeks thereafter.  There is a fair amount of wine at the importer so the chances are good that we will get all we want, however there are no guarantees until the order is placed so don’t delay – this will be our/your last chance at this fantastic wine at this amazing close-out price.  Before long we’ll be in the New Orleans heat we all know and love, and you’re going to want to own a case of this beauty.  Especially at this price.

RESERVE YOURS TODAY BY CLICKING HERE or by calling us at 504-483-6314. In your email please include (a) how much you want (6 btls min, no max) and (b) your phone #.

About the wine:

This is the white counterpart to the red we had on offer last fall. It is a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne and is just a gorgeous glassful of aromas of soft dried flowers and limestone with a good dose of citrus in there to reel the wine into balance.  Often times when you think of the Rhone its Red Wine that comes to mind, however the Rhone produces some amazing whites as well and the Cassanus Blanc is a prime example of that.  The wine is full and round on the palate with a lot of elegance, however its is still incredibly bright and fresh with a great crisp, clean finish making it a superb food wine.  The wine is just fantastic.  You can keep your Conundrums, et al for $20+. I’ve now had this wine about 4-5 times now and every time I drink it I’m more amazed by it than the previous time.  If you were to serve me this wine blind I could easily be led to think it was a well made white from Crozes-Hermitage, a village in the Northern Rhone which produces white wines with these two varietals (at prices a tad higher than $6, I assure you).  I’m not sure how they do it, but the aromatics and mouthfeel of this wine are just incredible and the finish is both lively and elegant.

Grande Cassagne, also in the Costieres de Nimes west of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, is run by two young brothers, Laurent and Benoit Dardé.  They own and manage the property of their great grandfather Hippolyte who founded Grande Cassagne and planted most of the vineyards over fifty years ago.  They make a combination of white, red and rose wines and much of what they do is very good, high value, everyday wines.  They also make a pair of “reserve” wine under the Cassanus label and the wines are outstanding because, like Cantarelles, the vineyards are planted on an ancient riverbed covered with stones, or cailloux: a soil not unlike that of their famous neighbor 20 minutes east. As was the case with this wine’s sibling the price is because the brothers Dardé have decided not to make the Cassanus reserve wines anymore, which is a shame.  With a straight face I could sell this wine at twice its listed price (and some people do) but its a bargain at $14 and at $5.99 a bottle it’s a wine you just don’t pass up!

John, I had already asked for a case of this. Please do save it for the Baldy.
