2006 Domaine de Regusse Pinot Noir, $12.99

It’s Pinot Week at Cork and Bottle! With our big “Pinot Around the World” tasting on Wednesday, we are going to be lovin’ on the noble grape all week long. And what better way to pay homage to it than feature a lovely example from the south of France for our Wine of the Week?

The Domaine de Regusse Pinot Noir hails from Provence, more specifically from the Alpes de Haute Provence appellation, north of Marseille. This gorgeous area is THE land of lavender, chocolate, and truffles, which often make cameo appearances in the aroma and flavor profiles of the region’s wines. Coupled with fantastically flavored dry roses, the area is turning out a few beautiful Pinot Noirs as well.

Here’s why we love the Regusse: With a clear ruby color, bright, vibrant cherry notes burst forth from the glass. The red fruit seamlessly mingles with Provencal herbs, spice, black tea and a touch of cranberry on both the nose and palate. Lovely! This wine is definitely a crowd-pleaser Pinot, but possesses enough complexity and interest to satisfy more experienced palates. It will make a wonderful pairing to Chicken Provencal with rosemary potatoes, or a spice-rubbed salmon with herb rice pilaf.

The Domaine de Regusse Pinot Noir is hands down our best value Pinot Noir and has been our biggest seller of that varietal for years. We just love it here for its straightforward and delicious approach to an otherwise difficult grape to produce into wine. Always consistent, you will never pick up a bad bottle of Domaine de Regusse. So start enjoying this little delicious gem by grabbing a bottle today! Cheers!
