I’m Jon Smith (really), founder and owner of Cork & Bottle Fine Wine retail shop, Clever Wine Bar and the Mid-City Green Market all in the heart of Mid-City New Orleans.

I love wine and in 2002, after working for several years on the corporate side of the wine business, I started Cork & Bottle as a way to make wine easy, accessible and hassle free….and it worked. Getting the chance to put great bottles of wine in the hands of people that love them is such a genuine reward.

What do I like to drink? Well, if its a red wine there’s about a 7 in 10 chance that its a bottle of wine from the Rhone valley or the South of France.  I do have a guilty sweet tooth for big, lush Napa Cabs and as of late I’ve been playing around with Argentina and Portugal.  For white, I’ll go big with a white Burgundy, the occasional everyday Spanish white wine or something else dry and crisp.  Finding its way in the mix is a bottle of Prosecco (but only on days that end in “y”) – that is if the Full Sail IPA isn’t cold yet.

The beauty of wine is that it is ever changing, ever evolving and just when you think you have it figured out….the vintage changes. Of course my liquid interests range widely as well and now I have forum to bore everyone to tears about them!
