Mid City Green Market

Farmer’s Market Every Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00.

The year was 2002. Hayden Christensen had just ruined another Star Wars prequel, the White Stripes had (thankfully) knocked Pink off the charts with “Elephant” and America was in love with a sweet “girl next door” from Kentwood. At home in New Orleans we slept snug in our beds behind the safe protection of the levee system and in Mid-City we were getting to know and love a Thursday afternoon farmer’s market. Of course that all changed when The Thing hit. Fast forward to 2008: Our girl from Kentwood is a mess, our levees (well, let’s leave that one alone) . . . and our beloved Thursday Farmer’s market is still a distant memory, that is until now.

Cork & Bottle is proud to announce that we have begun a non-profit organization called the Mid City Green Market and starting on April 17th* we will hold a Farmer’s Market at its original spot in the American Can Company parking lot each and every Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00 !!!

Joining us will be some of the vendors you knew and loved from the old Thursday Crescent City Farmer’s Market including:

  • Pete and Clara’s Seafood – Fresh Shrimp, Fish and Crabs from Lac Des Allemands
  • Barrileaux Produce – Luscious Hydroponically Grown Creole Tomatoes
  • Taylor’s Happy Oaks Farm – Farm Fresh Fruit and Produce from Folsom, La
  • Johndale’s Farm – The Best Strawberries in the World Straight from Ponchatoula, La
  • Nola Bean – Gourmet Prepared Foods by Chef Kristen Essig
  • Paul’s Palate Pesto – Fantastic Fresh Pesto
  • Voo Dough Bakery – Fresh Breads and other Baked Items
  • Mizell Farms – Herbs, Native Plants, Hummingbird and Butterfly Plants
  • Robert’s Kettle Korn – Popcorn with Sugar and Sea Salt. It’s the most addictive thing you’ll ever try!
  • And…of course there’ll be a Wine Tasting in the Wine Shop Next Door…

Also, we have many more vendors knocking on our door already (and we haven’t begun yet) so stay tuned for more changes! Cheers!

(* April 17th is the working date to start the market, assuming all goes well with the behind the scenes red tape that’s the date we will start. If we have to push it back a week or so we’ll keep you posted.)
